FOOD FOR YOUR SOUL: CREATIVE WRITING, ART AND WELLNESS. Nourish your soul with creative writing, art, and wellness activities at our in-person one-day workshop on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2024.

This workshop is funded by the City of Toronto as a recipient of The Local Leadership Grant program with my AlbArt Collective.

The Toronto Public Library holds a treasured place in my heart as a writer, immigrant, and mother. Since arriving in Canada, it has been an invaluable resource for nurturing my creativity and has led many of my bilingual storytelling and creative writing programs for children and families across Toronto. The library has served as a sanctuary for my creative endeavours. As a bookworm, an art lover, and a passionate advocate for public libraries, I take pride in supporting its enriching and free programs.

Since 2016, I have created community-engaged arts projects and conducted over 100 bilingual (Spanish-English) creative writing and visual storytelling workshops for children aged 6 to 12 years and their families. These workshops have been presented at various Toronto public libraries, including the Maria A. Shchuka branch, Mount Dennis Library, Fort York Library, Forest Hill Library, and Bloor and Gladstone Library, among others. I also had the privilege of exhibiting my photographs at the Oakwood Village Library and Arts Centre in February 2023 and at the North York Central Library in August 2024.

I am forever grateful for the incredible support from the staff at the library and all the branches where I have collaborated. You can read more about this topic on my website here: https://enlareddeltiempo.com/storytime-in-spanish-with-yannis-lobaina/

Travesía Mágica: Storytime in Spanish with Yannis Lobaina.

“Mi sueño, poco a poco va navegando en este gran océano multicultural Toronteano. Mi gran reto, mantener mis tradiciones culturales, motivar a otros que no pierdan la conexión con su lengua materna.  Mi gran deseo, poder realizar este programa por todo Toronto, y quien diría Canadá”

Estas fueran mis palabras hace unos días en una recién entrevista que me hicieron para un canal cultural, que pronto les estaré comentando.

Creative writing, escritura creativa, cuentos, Stories, canciones, songs, and art collages. A space created to celebrate our roots in the Bilingual Spanish-English speaking community of Toronto and beyond.

Where the Children will listen, explore their creativity and learn how to create a small book, made with their own stories, collages and the use of recycled materials.

Storytime in Spanish with Yannis Lobaina. will be an activity to encourage curiosity, improves fine motor and social skills. In fact,  develops an enthusiasm for
reading and learning Spanish. Also, participate with other as they
create their tiny library.

And the most important is: Enjoy hours of
learning and have fun!!
