As a grassroots, non-profit group, we aim to nurture community ties through art. ABOUT THE ARTIST AND AUTHOR FACILITATORS:

NADJA LUBIW-HAZARD

Nadja is the author of the adult novel The Nap-Away Motel and the upcoming children’s chapter book TIZZY & ME: Fifteen Ways to Love a Mink. www.nmlhazard.com.

Before turning to full-time writing, Nadja worked as a veterinarian, most recently at the Toronto Humane Society. She is currently working on several children’s books about animals and a second novel, Saving Seraphina. A lifelong animal lover and long-time vegan, her writing often explores themes related to the natural world. She lives with her wife, their two daughters, and a feisty, fluffy cat in Toronto. Nadja facilitates a weekly creative writing workshop with the Writers Collective of Canada. She also facilitates therapeutic writing groups for pet loss and eco-grief through CAMH Collaborative Learning College. Find mout ore about her at www.nmlhazard.com.

Nathan Cole is a visual artist, photographer, writer, and aspiring naturalist. https://www.artworkarchive.com/profile/nathan-cole

 His practice is based on the exploration of the natural world both physically and visually, drawing inspiration from artist residencies in Costa Rica, India, and Spain. He is best known for his intricate and emotional wildlife scratchboard portraits. Nathan has exhibited his work at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Gallery, Queen West Art Crawl, and Beaux Arts Brampton, as well as Eduardo Lira Gallery in Miami where he was a semifinalist for ARTBOX. Projects and he was the 3rd place winner in the 2nd edition of the Boynes Emerging Artist Award. In 2022, he was one of three finalists for the Breakthrough Artist Award by the Toronto Arts Foundation. His artwork has also been featured in Murze and ArtAscent Magazines. Yannis Lobaina is an award-winning Cuban-Canadian artist, author, filmmaker, photographer, and arts-based workshop facilitator based in Toronto. Yannis’ writing is deeply impacted by her multiethnic identity as a multilingual person, a woman of colour, a mother and an immigrant; recently, she has published short stories, poetry and creative non-fiction stories exploring themes of immigration, language, and motherhood. As a photographer, Yannis specializes in minimalist photographic storytelling, capturing ephemeral landscapes, patterns, and pareidolias (faces) in Mother Nature. She firmly believes that the arts can be a powerful tool for social change and peacemaking. Yannis is the founder of the bilingual podcast, We Should Talk, and the AlbART Global Collective. These endeavours aim to unite diverse voices to share their stories and experiences. Yannis is passionate about creating a dynamic space where ideas blossom and connections flourish, encouraging creativity, connection, and inspiration. She is a high-spirited advocate of literary citizenship and a sustainable lifestyle.
